摘要：Accessibility, being among the most important factors of transport quality determines the means of transport. The highest level of accessibility is offered by the system of roads because of its ramifications. However, due to the construction and improvements of branch lines as logical extensions of railroad tracks, and to the application of new technologies of combined transport, the rail transport is constantly becoming better equipped for performing a full service, i.e. a direct transport from the sender to the receiver. This paper analyses the role of branch lines in improving the quality of rail transport service.
