摘要：Development of new technologies has created a powerful competitor for the traditional, 'written', dictionary -the computer dictionary. Although the computer dictionary presents an opponent to the traditional lexicography, at the same time it provides an incentive for its development and improvement. Apart from the obvious difference in the medium of presentation, the difference between a traditional and a computer dictionary lies, on the one hand, in the work process itself (compiling material, corpus formation, formal processing, grammatical information), and, on the other, in the relation between the author and the user of the dictionary. Dictionaries currently on the market can be divided into traditional, computer and hybrid dictionaries. This paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of these types of dictionaries, with examples from Polish lexicographic experience.
