摘要：This paper aims to analyze the enabling conditions in the process of organizational knowledge creation as it is shown by Nonaka and Takeuchi (1997). The research is a descriptive study of qualitative character. It analyzes the casse studies of farmers, in Brazil and Australia, by using various types of data including documents related to farm producers, on-site observation, questionary, semi-structured interview and focus groups. The used categories of analysis are present in the model of Nonaka and Takeuchi (1997). The cases studies were developed in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil and Queensland, Australia. The data indicate that the volume of information is not decisive in the creation of knowledge. Information needs to be recognized as important by the rural producer, so, it can be turned into knowledge. Thus, the property alone does not create knowledge, but, it needs people who are engaged in activities, driven to seek innovation and a defined goal. One aspect, quite evident in Brazil, was the strong bond between the cooperatives and its associates, as well the responsibility that it assumes as space for the creation of knowledge. On the other hand, Australians seek for means to materialize that either in small groups or in direct relation with technicians.
