摘要：This study aimed to analyze the meaning of money assigned for undergraduate students of private institutions. For comparison purposes, were considered factors as gender and scholarship. Thus, it was made a descriptive research with quantitative approach through a survey. The Scale the meaning of Money (EDS) proposed by Luna, Quintanilla and Diaz (1995) and validated in Brazil by Resende, Cavalcante and Jeunon (2010) was used as a research tool. The 486 questionnaires were applied and the data were analyzed by factor analysis. The results arising from gender analysis indicated similar thoughts regarding money. Both have variables that relate to personal happiness with money, power and social influence. It should be noted that, for men, happiness would be the most important attribute. As attribute of having or not scholarship, students who possess diverge a bit from the vision of those who do not. The first highlight that money can be seen as a factor in social influence, while the remainder the highlights as an evil. These data reflect the importance of analyzing the meaning of money associated with the many features of society and groups in it.
