摘要:There is a growing quest for status, power, recognition personal and professional success. The status represents the social position of a person, respect, admiration and acceptance perceived by the other, reflecting a lifestyle centered in material and appearance. In some professions, such as with lawyers, we find a high wage spending to maintain and display a consistent picture, which if not managed through a personal financial planning, cause serious financial problems. The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of status on personal financial planning. It is qualitative, descriptive and developed by a case study of lawyers in Florianopolis, Santa Catarina. Data were collected through a questionnaire searching for information from the socioeconomic and behavioral audience. The sample was composed by 52 lawyers. As a result, the professionals can not pay their monthly expenses and increase their working hours when they lack money, almost half have loans, most controls their spending inefficiently, save a few, generally feel respected by the status conferred for material, nearly all believe that money brings happiness, and that appearance influences the professional success and demonstrated an interest in obtaining knowledge about personal finance.
