摘要:The changes in the economic scenario have relevantly impacted the performance of organizations located in the Vale do Rio dos Sinos/RS, where footwear sector is predominant. The footwear companies that remain competitive are those which invest in diversification and differentiation, that is, they innovate their productive processes and their products. The objective of this research is to verify and analyze the positioning of small and medium-sized industries of this cluster regarding innovation and management practices which denote an organizational culture focused on innovation. Therefore, a survey was conducted with 162 respondents. As the most important results obtained, it was observed that the organizations had as a practice to encourage the creation of new products, of process improvement, and to take risks in search of innovation. They also refer in large number that the organizational culture encourages new ideas and new ways of thinking and executing work, dealing with mistakes as a possibility of learning. However, it is perceived that among the respondents some factors need to be improved in order that the culture of innovation is established as a daily practice.
