摘要:This paper analyzes the training process of the military police, using Foucault´s theoretical model that considers that the modernizing practices from these institutions are tied to liberal conceptions, jeopardizing the social control strategies. The modernizing teaching initiatives adopted by the Military Police of São Paulo (PMESP) are also appeased by this trend, which results in a remarkable contradiction, i.e., the use of authoritarian procedures to promote announced democratic practices. This study included visits to schools (ESSD; ESSgt; EEF; APMBB; CAES; DEC), where information on PMESP’s structure and functioning of the education system was collected. Also, interviews were conducted with the colonels in charge of these schools. The article also presents analyzes of the ESSd specific normative to corroborate the above thesis.
