摘要：http://dx.doi.org/10.5007/1980-4237.2014n16p189 Nesta tradução comentada, nós apresentamos algumas questões que marcaram nosso processo tradutório do poema “Gaviota” [“Gaivota”], do autor mexicano José Gorostiza. Esse processo baseou-se na perspectiva da tradução letrista como formulada por Antoine Berman, a qual se volta para a letra do texto original, ou seja, para os jogos criados entre seus significantes. Ao longo desse processo, nós tentamos equacionar as tensões entre esses jogos, pois não havia como darmos conta em língua portuguesa de todos eles ao mesmo tempo. Portanto, deformamos alguns aspectos da letra do texto de partida para mantermos outros no texto de chegada, estabelecendo relações hipertextuais entre os textos. ABSTRACT On this translation with commentary we present some issues that stood out in the process of our translation of the poem “Gaviota” [“Gaivota” (Seagull)] written by the Mexican author José Gorostiza into Brazilian Portuguese. This process was based on the perspective on translation formulated by Antoine Berman, which stresses the importance of the letter of the original text, that is, the importance of the relationships between its signifiers. Throughout this process, we tried to settle the tensions between these relationships, as it was impossible to deal with them all and at oncein Portuguese. So, we deformed some aspects of the letter of the source text in the target text in order to maintain other aspects intact, establishing an hypertextual relationship between the two texts.
