摘要:This paper addresses the issue of the relationship between disaster and regional development, with the goal of examine the theoretical and empirical debate on the relationship between development and disaster. It argues that disasters can be considered as a development indicator: the higher the impact of disasters in a region, the less sustainable is the predominant pattern of development. To develop this argument the text was divided into four main parts: a) vulnerability of global standards to disasters; b) the relationship between development and disaster; c) territorial impacts of disasters; and d) final considerations.
