His way of signifying is very different from the language statements, so it is difficult to verbalize their meaning. The article analyzes the different theoretical frameworks that the photographic images consider as an object of scientific study. It focuses specifically on the process of reading the photographs, which give rise to content analysis. It proposes a model of reading-oriented photographic images documentary representation and retrieval of information. The necessary skills are identified, the factors involved and semantic operations carried out during the reading of the photographs. The established model is applied to the reading of documentary photography Robert Doisneau Le baiser de l'Hôtel de Ville (1950).
