摘要:Hypertension is a major public health problem due to its high prevalence and morbidity and mortality, therefore, preventive and correctivemeasures are essential to avoid disease aggravation. This study aimed to characterize the clinical and epidemiological profile of hypertensivepatients registered in a Family Health Unit in Ananindeua, State of Para. This is an observational, transversal, descriptive and quantitativestudy. Data collection was performed by conducting a questionnaire at home visits. The sample comprised 124 hypertensive patients: 70.16%were elderly (mean age 64.9 years), 66.13% were women; 54.84%, married; 77.42%, African descent; 39.52% had incomplete elementaryeducation; 34.68% belonged to the C-2 economic segmentation, equivalent to a R$ 933,00 monthly income; 34.68% had blood pressureunder control. Among the health problems reported, the following were emphasized: swelling / leg pain (41.13%), diabetes (33.06%), anddyslipidemia (33.06%). The average BMI was 27.84, and there was a significant association between smoking and increased levels of bloodpressure. The results suggest the need to implement health promotion actions directed to the education in the prevention of risk factors.
