摘要:Objective: to identify the perception of pregnant women about risk factors that may contribute to infant mortality. Methods: observational, crosssectional, descriptive study, using a quantitative and qualitative approach, conducted in 40 pregnant women from the Family Health Unit (FHU) of Guaxuma, Maceió-AL. Results: the social and demographic profile of the women studied was similar to the pattern of women with higher infant mortality, already described in the literature, including age between 10 and 19 years and above 30 years, high parity, birth interval less than two years and low education. In these women’s speeches, they emphasized the following risk factors: incorrect breastfeeding, delay in seeking care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum and for well child care and lack of family involvement in prenatal care. Conclusion: patients in the study, who had a social and demographic profile consistent with increased risk for infant mortality, demonstrated a good knowledge about the risk factors.
