摘要:The article proposes an overview of Agamben’s engagement with the philosophy of language, emphasizing his debt to Benjamin’s and Heidegger’s philosophies. It argues for the centrality of the question of language for the whole «Homo Sacer» project, both in its pars destruens, whereby the presupposing structure of language is identified as analogous to, and the foundation of, the exclusionary/inclusive structure of sovereignty, and for its pars construens, insofar as the overcoming of metaphysics and biopolitics is grounded in, and depends upon, the advent of a «new word», of a new language. Only with the deactivation of the denotative and performative structure of language a new «use» of language, and with it a new world epoch, will be possible.
