摘要:This article’s main goal is exploring archaeological data from two particular regions of southern Brazilian high plains, by using two vectors of varia-bility: sites and funerary practices, understood through an interpretive perspective. Through the exploration of these two vectors, it is suggested a significant difference on landscape implantations of archaeological sites and the treatment of the dead, in spite of a resemblance of material culture in both regions. In doing so, the article contri-butes for questioning the correspondence bet-ween material culture and ethnic group, as used in southern Brazilian high plains archaeology. Key-words: Funerary practices, landscape archaeo-logy, southern Brazilian high plains archaeology.
