摘要：The present article focuses on the prominent role played by the population of the province of Espírito Santo, amid the cholera epidemic, by claiming for effective action from the State and the public officers against the adversities in that moment. Through the “Correio da Victoria” and correspondences with the government authorities, the population demanded medical care and also condemned the negligence of religious, military and civil authorities.
