摘要：A method is described for labeling lipoprotein cholesterol with cholesterol-4-C14. The specific activity of the labeled cholesterol is equal in low and high density lipoproteins, and none of the label is associated with other serum proteins. Lipoproteins labeled in this manner were used to define the quantity of cholesterol that exchanges with plasma free cholesterol in 30 hours. This quantity is approximately three times the amount of cholesterol contained in blood plasma, red blood cells, and liver.
