摘要：Although some research suggests age-related changes in the visual systemare inevitable, other work indicates that expert performers in sport are able tomaintain performance despite increasing age. This study examined aspects ofskilled perceptual performance among older female experts (n = 6), advancedplayers (n = 7) and novices (n = 10). As expected, there were skill-relateddifferences among the groups although analyses of differences in perceptualperformances between the groups were more mixed. Our results highlight severalinteresting areas for future work including the possibility that age-related changesin the performance environment might drive maintenance or decline of skill. Thisresearch contributes to a surprisingly limited evidence base regarding the influenceof age on perceptual skill
