摘要:By examining the symbolic representations shaped by public power and by prevalent social groups, the present article aims understanding the political-identity relationships engendered through the process of constructing the characteristic symbols of Tocantins State, as they are assimilated and utilized in the social sphere. Among those symbols, the sunflower is singular and distinctive; state political influence has helped it become prominent among the official symbols of the nature of Tocantins and has transformed and established it as an icon projecting memories of the past into the present.
