摘要:Analyzing the retrieval situation, the user survey completed after information retrieval, and the theme usage based on the usage situation of the JDreamPetit service provided by Japan Science and Technology Agency, we examined the public needs for medical and health information during the 12 month period from September 2005 to August 2006. From the analysis results, we can see that the usage rate of medical and health information among users who are considered to be ordinary citizens is higher than that of other users. Furthermore, when comparing the results with a similar JDreamPetit study done in the past, we see that the usage rate of medical and health information among ordinary citizens has increased slightly than before. The accurate ascertainment of the public needs for medical information can not be fully attained solely by looking at the JDreamPetit survey results or the usage situation. Therefore, it is necessary to research and analyze these public needs from a much wider viewpoint. We would like to further our efforts in providing information through trials and errors while learning about the situation among people in the field of medical and health information including librarians of the medical, pharmaceutical, and public libraries.
