摘要：A case of an error in the indexing of a journal title in the Index Medicus and MEDLINE is found and reported. All articles in the SCANDINAVIAN JOURNAL OF GASTROENTEROLOGY, Vol. 17 Suppl. 77, 1982, have been incorrectly cited as the “Survey of Ophthalmology” in the Index Medicus, 24 (1), 1983, and MEDLINE. The correct journal title was discovered by collating the volumes and publication years of the journals in which the authors' other articles are published. Additional methods of finding the correct journal title are discussed. In order to ascertain the citation data, the following is advised: 1) to standardize their citation order such as vol., no., pagination, year of pub.; 2) if the two key clues of vol. and year of pub. are prepared in the program, it may help the searchers greatly in the verification of any doubtful “journal title.”
