摘要:Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is well known as an indispensable tool to librarians, particularly, to reference librarians, and the use of MeSH has changed with the introduction of computer systems to libraries. Today, thesauri have become tools that control the vocabulary of information retrieval systems. MeSH first appeared as the index of Index Medicus and later became a tool for MEDLINE. What are reference works, or what will they become, in the age of computer retrieval? In this article, we discuss some processes in our daily reference work, from analysing subjects to mastering medical terms. And basic questions are brought up, such as what thesauri are, and what problems thesauri entail.
