摘要：Disposable polystyrene syringes and needles were irradiated with cobalt-60 gamma rays at various doses, and were subjected to sterility test, safety test, and function tests such as, breaking test, load test, fluid tightness test. A dose of 3 Mrad sterilized completely the samples inoculated heavily with Bacillus spores. Even at this dose level, neither the occurrence of the toxicity nor detrimental effect on the function of syringes were observed. From these results, it is presumed that 3 Mrad is suitable dose for the radiation sterilization of disposable syringes and needles.
