摘要:The colorimetric procedure with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and antimony trichloride for the determination of meprobamate described by Hoffman et al. was modified to determine 3-phenylpropanolcarbamate (PPCM) in urine. When 2 g of PPCM was orally administered to rabbits, only 1.4-2.4% of the dose was excreted unchanged into the urine, while a marked increase of urinary total glucuronic acid was observed. The results of separatory determination of free glucuronic acid and stable glucuronide revealed that about two-thirds of the increasing amounts of urinary total glucu-ronic acide were stable glucuronides. Furthermore, the paper chromatogram of the glucu-ronide extracts from such rabbit urine indicated one spot corresponding to a metabolite of PPCM. These results suggested that PPCM might be easily metabolized to its glucuronide in the animal bodies.
