摘要：In order to achieve better performance of 480i and 480p on different scanning type TV sets, a coding scheme, which includes a conversion from interlaced to progressive scanning of the P and I pictures, is newly proposed. In this method, the B picture is still interlaced, while all the pictures are predicted using progressive scanning. In decoding the progressive scanning pictures, intra-field interpolation of the residual is used. From experiments, the proposed coding scheme gives better picture quality than that of MPEG-2.
