  • 摘要:Real-time video communication was tested in a mobile environment using PHS and a very low bit-rate video codec. A vehicle equipped with PHS and the codec performed video communication with an indoor system while running along a given course. The communication protocols were PIAFS 32k (actually 29.2 kb/s) and UDP/IP. How throughput and picture quality were affected by the speed of the vehicle and how the electromagnetic-field intensity fluctuated with vehicle movement were measured. Results from this experiment revealed parameters of the video coding and packetizing ideal for use in mobile communication. The experiments showed that PHS could provide real-time mobile video communication at low to middle speeds within a service area.
