摘要：The isolation of mumps virus (MuV) from patients diagnosed as aseptic meningitis (AM) was reported by several local governments in Japan in 2000-2001. During this period, we isolated 12MuV strains from patients with AM and/or parotitis in Osaka, Japan. The genotyping of each isolate was performed according to the phylogenetic analyses based on P and SH gene sequences and the strains were classified into genotype B or G. Two of 12MuV strains were derived from a vaccine strain in genotype B, and 10 were wild-type strains. Five of 10 wild-type strains isolated from the patients who only showed AM were classified into genotype B except for one strain of genotype G. Other five wild-type strains isolated from the patients with parotitis were genotype G. These results may suggest that the occurrence of mumps patients with AM and/or parotitis was mainly caused by genotypes of MuV in Osaka, 2000-2001. The genotyping of MuV strains isolated from patients with AM in other regions during 2000-2001 should bring more information to interpret these results.
