摘要:Standardized mortality rates (SMRs) of three major life-style related diseases (malignant neoplasm, heart disease and cerebrovascular disease) over 10 years (from 1985 to 1994) for residents in all of the cities, towns and villages (44 in total) in Miyazaki prefecture were calculated and compared to those of the national average mortality rates. In the case of malignant neoplasm, SMR was calculated for each organ (stomach cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer and intestinal cancer). Based on the results, areas showing high SMRs from each of these life-style related diseases and characteristics of each area were discussed. 1) Five areas showing SMRs from malignant neoplasm exceeding the national average of 100 are located in the east part of the prefecture. Three areas among them have thriving fisheries. In contrast, many areas showing SMRs of less than 80 are located in the northern inland part near Oita. 2) Areas showing SMRs from heart disease and cerebrovascular disease exceeding 100 amount to about 50% of all areas and are widely distributed over the prefecture. 3) Six areas showing SMRs from stomach cancer exceeding 100 are located in the east part of the prefecture and four areas among them are on the coast. 4) Four areas showing high SMRs from liver cancer are located in the southern island region. 5) Four areas among six showing SMRs from lung cancer exceeding 100 are located in the northeastern part of the prefecture, while three areas showing low SMRs are located in the northwestern part in the mountainous region of Kyushu. 6) There are many areas showing SMRs from intestinal cancer exceeding 100 scattered all over the prefecture. Thus it can hardly be considered as a regional characteristic.
