摘要:A survey was made of aquatic distribution of Salmonella spp., the causative bacteria of food poisoning and sporadic salmonellosis, in Osaka city from 1981 to 1983. More than 70 per cent of the water samples from the Sumiyoshi, Hirano and Neya rivers were positive for the bacteria. Two water sampling points, Higashitagochibashi and Mutsumibashi, were found to be most heavily contaminated with Salmonella spp. according to the most probable number (MPN) method. S. typhimurium, S. java and S. litchfield were frequently isolated. These serotypes have also been isolated most frequently from food poisoning and salmonellosis during the past five years, suggesting a relationship between the environmental contamination and the outbreakes of salmonellosis.
