摘要:According to a cross-sectional study in A-I district, Niigata Prefecture, with high incidence of stroke and C-A district, Osaka Prefecture, as a comparison group in 1977 and 1982, the reduction of severity of working conditions appeared to be associated with the decreasing trend in the incidence of stroke. In order to test the hypothesis, a prospective study was carried out, following up 1, 375 men and 1, 978 women aged 40 years or older for 5.5 years. There was a significant dose-response relationship between working conditions and standardized incidence ratio (SIR) of cerebral infarction. The persons with severe working conditions and higher mean blood pressure showed higher SIR than any other persons. Multivariate analysis taking into account sex, age, blood pressure and nutritional status showed no significant relationship between working conditions and occurrence of cerebral infarction. It is considered that the control of working conditions as well as that of hypertension is needed for the prevention of stroke.
