摘要：A bacterial strain was isolated from a young plant culture of horse radish. The isolated bacteri um produced purplish red pigment in a mixed culture with young horse radish, the visible absorption spectrum of which had a peak at 558nm. Pigment formation by the bacterium was not specific to a mixed culture with young horse radish, and also occurred in other young plant mixed cultures. Pigment formation was observed in the late growth phase of bacteria in a submerged mixed culture with young horse radish.
