  • 摘要:To determine eye damage induced by irradiation with ultraviolet rays, a survey of subjective symptoms (8 items) was undertaken in 192 subjects (age from 8 to 21 years, mean 19.3±1.2) who participated in skiing lessons. 1. Subjective ocular symptoms in subjects who used eye protection Complaint of ocular abnormality was found in 53 (27.6%) of the 192 subjects. Of 26 subjects who developed ocular abnormalities despite the use of sunglasses, 3 (11.5%) complained of sensing the presence of a foreign body, 10 (38.5%) of a smarting sensation, 3 (11.5%) of epiphora and 10 (38.5%) of photophobia. The symptoms occurred during the skiing lesson in 14 (53.8%) and after the lesson in 12 (46.2%). The symptoms persisted for 7 hours in 19 (73.1%) and for 12 hours in 7 (26.9%). For treatment of the symptoms, 19 (73.1%) did nothing, 4 (15.4%) cooled their eyes and 3 (11.5%) used an eye lotion. 2. Subjective ocular symptoms in subjects who occasionally did not use an eye protection and those who did not use it at all Of 22 subjects who occasionally did not use of sunglasses, sensing the presence of a foreign body occurred in 2 (9.1%), a smarting sensation in 8 (36.4%), epiphora in 2 (9.1%) and photophobia in 10 (45.4%). The symptoms developed during the skiing lesson in 10 (45.4%), after the lesson in 10 (45.4%) and before retiring to bed in 2 (9.1%). The symptoms persisted for 7 hours in 11 (50%), for 12 hours in 9 (40.9%) and for 48 hours in 2 (9.1%). For treatment of the symptoms, 16 (72.7%) did nothing, 1 (4.5%) cooled his eyes and 5 (22.7%) used an eye-lotion. Of the 5 who did not use sunglasses at all, sensing the presence of a foreign body occurred in 1, a smarting sensation in 1, epiphora in 0 and photophobia in 3. The symptoms appeared during the course of skiing lesson in 2, after the lesson in 2 and before retiring to bed in 1. The symptoms persisted for 7 hours in 2, for 12 hours in 1 and for 48 hours in 2. None of them used any palliative treatment.
