  • 摘要:Health examinations were performed for VDT workers and controls in printing industries in the autumn of 1987. The data examined were 1) information regarding working conditions, 2) the kind of work, 3) subjective physical and mental symptoms and 4) factors of the Yatabe-Guilford personality test. 1. Comparison of different age groups, i.e., those in their teens, twenties and thirties or above, showed that the younger workers displayed higher factors of depression (D), change of cyclic tendency (C), inferiority feelings (I), nervousness (N), lack of objectivity (O), rhathymia (R) and social extraversion (S). 2. No significant differences were found among the YG factors for the different types of work, such as inputting numbers, word processing, searching and programming. 3. The longer the duration of the physical complaints, the higher were the values for the emotional instability factors in the YG test, such as depression (D), change of cyclic tendency (C), inferiority feelings (I), nervousness (N), and also for the social disadjustment factors such as lack of objectivity (O), lack of cooperativeness (Co), aggressiveness (Ag). Low values were recorded for ascendance (A) factors characteristic of the initiative-taking group. 4. In those whose scores of physical complaints were more than 6 points or in those whose scores of eye complaints were more than 15 points, values of rhathymia (R) were significantly higher while values of extraverted thinking were significantly lower than those with lower physical and eye complaints scores. 5. To gauge mental factors, seven questions were asked. “Do you have confidence to use computers?” those who replied that they did not have confidence scored high on the emotional instability factors and low on the general activity (G), ascendance (A) and social extraversion (S) factors that typify the initiative-taking group. When asked “Are you anxious about human relationships or the atmosphere in the office?”, those who replied they did feel anxiety had high values for the emotional instability factors and low ones for extraverted thinking. The question “Do you feel alone or estranged during VDT work?” elicited a positive reply from those who scored high on the emotional instability and the social disadjustment factors but low on extraverted thinking and factors of the initiative-taking group.
