摘要:In Osaka City in 1985, an epidemic of influenza occurred in school children from October 21 to about the end of December. Although this epidemic was about 2 months earlier than that occurring annually, its scale was similar to that observed on previous occasions. The peak of closed classes coincided with the peak of disease occurrence in patients. The isolation of influenza viruses from washing swabs was carried out in both embryonated eggs and MDCK cells. H3N2 viruses were recovered from the eggs in 27 (30%) of 89 samples, while none were obtained from the cells. During the influenza epidemica of 1982, H3N2 viruses were readily isolated in MDCK cells by the conventional method. A modification of the method made it possible for MDCK cells to be used for isolation of H3N2 viruses from the samples obtained in 1985. This might have indicated antigenic differences between H3N2 viruses isolated in 1982 and those isolated in 1985.
