摘要:The correlation between potassium permanganate (KMnO4) consumption, toal organic carbon (TOC), and ultraviolet (UV) absorption of the aqueous extracts from rubber products used in contact with foods and medical supplies was investigated. KMnO4 consmption and TOC of the extracts were 4.2-327ppm, and 0.3-49.6ppm, respectively, and ther UV absorbances at 220nm were 0.03-5.20. These results show an adequate correlation among the three indicators, and the correlation coefficients between KMnO4 consumption/TOC, TOC/absorbance at 220nm, and KMnO4 consumption/absorbance at 220nm were 0.80, 0.78, and 0.97, respectively. The measurement of UV spectra of aqueous extracts was effective to identify the existence of the compounds decomposed little by KMnO4 and to estimate the kinds of migrated compounds.
