摘要：Shipbuilding in Votkinsk on the second half of XIX – early XX century is one of the cultural and technological phenomena of Russia on this period. Votkinsk is situated far from the river’s highways but Votkinsk plant was one of the largest builder of the ships in Russia. But as the source’s analysis is showed, the systematic description of the Votkinsk’s shipbuilding and its cataloging has not been the object of study of historians or ethnographers. The aim of this work is consist to identify the body of the sources and their typology for the solving of this problem. In the addition to traditional methods of the historiographical researches, for the work there was used the systematic method of analysis, that allowed to reveal the implicit information, that usually is hidden during the analysis of each group individually sources. As a result, there was revealed that the body of sources about Votkinsk’s shipbuilding industry can be divided into a four groups. Archives information (first of all CSA of UR and Votkinsk’s plant archive), River Register of the Russian Empire and the Soviet Union, press and modern analyzer’s works. The integrate using of all groups of sources allowed to put new research challenges and to formulate a new approaches to research problems of Votkinsk’s shipbuilding. For example, the absence on registers of certain groups of vessels may indicate the possibility of tax evasion in the Russian Empire. It revealed two groups of similar vessels: factory ships and private yachts.
