  • 摘要:The use of digital technology is changing the content and methods of adult education, forms of cooperation and research opportunities. The competences that adult education instructors are expected to have are also changing. Expanded learning formats and learning opportunities dissolve boundaries to previous opportunities yet also create new barriers to access for learners: The internet and digital technology are not just a space full of possibilities but also an additional hurdle to participation in society. Issue 30 of the Austrian Open Access Journal on Adult Education (Magazin erwachsenenbildung.at, Meb) investigates current developments and changes due to digital technology at the level of learners and learning and teaching formats as well as from the perspective of organizations and engages in a critical dialogue about changes in adult education as a result of digital technology. It addresses and reflects on challenges in using digital media and technology in the penal system, in language learning, in the basic education of girls and women and in the improvement of basic competences related to the workplace. These articles are framed by fundamental discussions of the „digital readiness“ of adult education instructors, the necessity for basic digital education and the definition of a media competence model for adult education. Other articles are devoted to programme research and recognized weak spots in the implementation of digitally supported continuing education course offerings. (Ed.)
