  • 摘要:Media competence and media literacy have become cornerstones of successful participation in society. According to the authors, easy to use, motivating and playful access and online diagnostic tools for ongoing formative feedback on the learning process have a great variety of potential in basic education. Nevertheless, they often encounter learners whose computer competence is (too) poor. The ever louder call for basic digital education seems increasingly logical. One of the conclusions of the article is that there is still an enormous need for research and development in terms of the discourse on competence and literacy as well as the development of digital media for the field of basic education. The authors set out to bring together the status quo of the use of digital media in basic education in the context of current empirical findings and discourses in Germany and Austria and critically examine it. This article concludes with concrete recommendations for action and desiderata. The significant finding: participation in the media society of the future will increasingly require basic digital education that also takes into account multimodal forms of communication. (Ed.)
