摘要:The authors of this article raise a basic skills issue that so far has received little attention in Austria: financial literacy enables people to handle money and their finances in a competent and responsible manner. What literacy skills are necessary to handle money properly? For which target groups can educational opportunities be designed? This article presents the "Debt counselling as a starting point for literacy - Curricular Networking and Transitions" project ("Schuldnerberatung als Ausgangspunkt für Grundbildung - Curriculare Vernetzung und Übergänge", CurVe in German), project of the German Institute for Adult Education (Deutsches Institut für Erwachsenenbildung, DIE in German), which runs from 03/2013 to 09/2015. As part of this project, a competence model was developed that specifies the requirements of financial literacy explicitly and exclusively at the basic skills level. The financial literacy content was not defined theoretically, but instead gathered empirically. For this purpose, expert interviews were conducted with 14 debt advisors and 10 continuing education instructors from the field of language and literacy, as well as learning workshops were held by researchers with 18 advice-seekers from the field of debt advising.
