摘要：The article is devoted to the manuscript of the well-known Cossacks statistics N.I. Krasnov which is currently published only in part and stored in Russian state military and historical archive. The author analyzes the history of its creation and some of the features of the text. The article shows that “Thoughts on being profitable for the state in the financial relation of the system of contributing irregular troops by special population groups, enjoying for this military service exemptions and privileges” were the last attempt high "progressives" to persuade the Ministry of War to the demilitarization of the Cossacks. N.I. Krasnov thinks that Cossack troops economically inefficient institution even before writing this text, and in their study defended a similar view. Besides the result of the our study is the conclusion that this manuscript of N.I. Krasnov marked the beginning of the creative period of the author which was characterized by a diversity of subjects and a preference for small forms.
