摘要：Cidade do interior de Minas Gerais que se destaca na região devido a sua dinâmica universitária, Viçosa vem apresentando um acelerado processo de crescimento urbano devido, sobretudo, à expansão da Universidade Federal de Viçosa, por meio do programa Reuni, bem como ao surgimento de novas instituições particulares de ensino superior. As novas demandas têm impactado o mercado habitacional da cidade e provocado mudanças na legislação urbanística e na paisagem urbana. Este artigo busca apresentar os resultados alcançados ao longo do projeto de pesquisa iniciado em 2011 e em andamento, cujo objetivo é compreender as particularidades presentes no processo de produção e crescimento do espaço urbano de Viçosa e analisar as transformações que estão ocorrendo na configuração das áreas de expansão urbana da cidade.
其他摘要：The small city of Minas Gerais, which is outstanding in the region due to its university dynamics, Viçosa has been presenting an accelerated process of urban growth mainly due to the expansion of the Federal University of Viçosa through the Reuni program, as well as the creation of private colleges. The new demands have impacted in the real estate market of the city and caused changes in the urban regulation and in the city landscape. This paper aims to present the results achieved during the research project started in 2011 and still in progress, whose objective is to understand the particularities present in the production and growth process of the urban space of Viçosa and to analyze the transformations that are occurring in the configuration of the urban expansion areas in the city.
