摘要:Summary Rhizomes of aria (Calathea allouia) normally have low viability or slow shoot Iniciation. Various treatments were used to accelerate water penetration in order to stimulate iniciation. The rhizomes were immersed in a hot water (48°C) for 10. 20 or 30 minutes or cold water (ambient temperature) for 24. 48, 96 or 168 hours and compared with a control. The results show a significant increase in percentage of shoot iniciation when the rhizomes were immersed in hot water foi 10 minutes. Orther treatments did not stimulate iniciation and in some cases negative effects were observed. However, leaf number, 90 days after planting, did not vary significatly between treatments.
