摘要：The article said that the North Caucasus was one of the centers of early civilization, as it was settled by nomads since ancient times, thanks in no small measure contributed to the very favorable natural and geographical conditions of the region. It was here that establish trade, political, military and cultural contacts between the near Eastern countries and Eastern Europe and the North Caucasus because the region gradually formed as a multiethnic region. It consisted of three language families: the Caucasian, Turkic and Indo-European (Ural-Altaic). The article describes the history of the formation of ethnic resettlement in the Caucasus and considered their ethnographic map. It is proved that at the beginning of the XVIII century ended with the formation of the ethnic composition of the population of the North Caucasus, which has survived unchanged to this day.
