摘要:Dams can cause negative or positive effects on climate. In this study, effect of a small dam on climate of a drought province is investigated by using trend analysis. Akkaya Dam which is located in Nigde province was selected for this aim. When considered reservoir volume, Akkaya Dam is a small dam. Nigde province is one of the most drought places in Turkey. Run test was applied for investigation of homogeneity of data. Mann Kendall Rank Correlation test was used for trend analysis. The period before the dam (1950-1966) was compared with the period after the dam (1968-1984). Monthly total precipitation, monthly maximum temperature, monthly minimum temperature, mean monthly temperature, mean monthly relative humidity and mean monthly wind speed values of Nigde province was used for comparison. After the dam, increases in monthly total precipitation and monthly minimum temperature values and decreases in monthly maximum temperature, mean monthly temperature, mean monthly relative humidity and mean monthly wind speed values were observed for most of the months of the year.
