摘要:In this laboratory studies, carbonation and shrinkage properties of mortars with silica fume additive were investigated. In the tests, binder/sand ratio of prepared mortars was 2.75. Water/binder ratios of mortars produced with silica fume replaced with ordinary Portland cement (PC 42.5) with 10, 15, 20 and 40% by weight were determined as 0.25, 0.30, 0.40, 0.50 and 0.60. According to the tests results, carbonation values were increased for all water/binder ratios at 28, 90 and 180 days. While, the usage of silica fume with the quantities of 10% and 15% were decreased the carbonation values, the usage of silica fume with the quantity of 40% was increased the carbonation value. It was seen that, replacement ratio of silica fume and water/binder ratio in mortars were relatively effected the drying shrinkage. In the mortars with water/binder ratios of 0.25 and 0.30, addition of silica fumes was decreased shrinkage for all replacement ratios of silica fumes except 40%. However, the effect of silica fume on shrinkage was decreased with the increase of water/binder ratios. Keywords: Mortar, silica fume, carbonation, shrinkage
