摘要:The competition between organizations is a key process that can help to explain the vital rates of organizational populations. In turn, the intensity of the competition can be observed through the size diferences between the members of a population. In the current work, we review the models that have analyzed the influence of competition on survival under this approach, emphasizing the important role played by organizational size. This has allowed us to identify the main interrelations between size and competition, and consequently propose a new matrix to classify and characterize organizations in four groups on the basis of these two variables. Furthermore, and in order for this matrix to be useful to managers and consultants, we have designed a methodology for positioning organizations within the matrix. This can then be used to guide managers about the strategic decisions they need to adopt in the future
