摘要:In this work represent electronic effect brought with the addition of W contributes tohigher catalytic activity of Pt–Sn–W/MC catalyst for ethanol oxidation inmembraneless ethanol fuel cell (MLEFC). Pt100/MC, Pt80Sn20/MC, Pt90W10/MC andPt80Sn15W05/MC catalysts were synthesized by thermal decomposition of polymericprecursor method. The particle size and lattice parameter of the catalysts weredetermined by means of X-ray diffraction. Transmission electron microscopy of allcatalysts showed a good distribution of the particles on the mesoporous carbonsupport voltammetry and chronoamperometric results obtained at room temperatureshowed that Pt–Sn/MC, Pt–W/MC and Pt–Sn–W/MC displayed better catalyticactivity for ethanol oxidation compared to Pt/MC. The performance of the Single celltest shows that ternary based Pt80Sn15W05/MC produces maximum power density andcurrent density compared to all the prepared catalyst in membraneless ethanol fuelcell. The polarization graph also shows that cell performance increased the addition ofthe W to the Pt–Sn catalyst.
