摘要:N-(1-(propionyloxy) propylidene) benzenamine (PPB) was tested as corrosion inhibitorfor carbon steel in 1M HCl by using polarization and electrochemical impedancespectroscopy (EIS) at 298-328 K. Then the experimental results were confirmed bytheoretical calculations using DFT at B3LYP/6–31G (d, p) level of theory. The inhibitionefficiency was found to increase with increase in PPB concentration but decreased withtemperature. Activation parameters and Gibbs free energy for the adsorption process werecalculated and discussed. It was found that PPB behaved as a mixed type inhibitor. Theadsorption process of inhibitor obeyed the Langmuir isotherm. Impedance measurementsshowed that the double-layer capacitance decreased and charge-transfer resistanceincreased with increase in the inhibitor concentration and hence increasing in inhibitionefficiency.
