Dans cette étude, je présente une analyse des isotopies métaphoriques circulant dans les discours métalinguistiques ordinaires sur la langue française issus de la presse nationale et régionale et de nombreux sites Internet entre 1995 et 2005. Pour ce faire, je proposerai d’intégrer dans un cadre théorique cohérent les notions de « prédiscours » (Paveau, 2006) et d’ « essaim métaphorique » (Prandi, Mattera, 2012) afin de montrer le rôle joué par ces métaphores dans la construction d’un fond commun et partagé de connaissances « profanes » sur la langue, au-delà des attitudes hétérogènes, voire contradictoires, exprimées par les locuteurs. L’isotopie organiciste, l’image du combat et celle de la trajectoire seront ainsi traitées dans les analyses afin d’en montrer les enjeux principaux dans ces discours.

This paper proposes an analysis of some major metaphorical isotopies characterising non-expert metalinguistic discourse on the French language in the national and regional press and on a number of websites between 1995 and 2005. This analysis seeks to integrate the notions of "prédiscours" (Paveau 2006) and "metaphorical swarm" (Prandi, Mattera 2012) in a consistent theoretical framework with a view to explaining the role of these metaphors in the construction of a common and shared "lay" knowledge encompassing the heterogeneous and sometimes contradictory attitudes expressed by the speakers. To this end, the organicist isotopy, the image of the battle and that of the trajectory will be carefully examined.
