摘要：In this present work we try, in the first place, to analyze the different characteristics that research in physical education have had at the moment of considering it with full scientific significance. In the second place, we have tried to define, characterize and extract the possible advantages and disadvantages that the two most usual perspectives have, from which we have tried to study the physical-educative phenomena: we refer to quantitative research in contrast to qualitative research. We think it would be more logical to refer to quantitative methods and qualitative methods, using indiscriminately all those that adapt better to the characteristics and intrinsic necessities of our research. Both approaches must complement each other and are totally necessary for a correct analysis of the processes of teaching- hearing. Finally we propose and introduce an integral model of research in teaching characterized by both approaches being complementary and by the use of instru- ments typical of both perspectives: and showing as an example some research by De Villar F. and Ramos L. ( 1992 ) on "The evaluation of P.E. in Secondary Schools: Teachers belief's and prospects for the Reform".
