摘要：This article reviews the reasons that lead rock outdoor climbers to do this sport, analysing the relationship between these reasons and gender.To do this we used a self-administered questionnaire for a sample of 146 climbers (89 men and 57 women) aged 18 to 54 (mean = 31.24 ± 6.96 years).The results showed that the main reasons chosen by climbers were intrinsic, the most important being contact with nature, the search for adventure, a personal challenge and fun.Among the least mentioned reasons were image enhancement, competition and social recognition.By gender, women climbers were more inclined to chose fun and image enhancement as reasons for climbing.
